Dear Parent or Guardian:
The C̣aƞṡayapi Waḳaƞyeża Owayawa Oṭi is so honored to have you be apart of our school. Through-out these past opening years since 2018, we have been excited to grow together in Dakota Iapi (language) and Early Childhood Education to help raise the next generation of Dakota Iapi speakers who are Kindergarten ready. We know the data shows that by being bilingual, it helps create life-long learners and we are committed to helping your child and family reach those goals. Having you all as families here has given us so much happiness and drive to continue to set those goals and reach them together.
With the call from the community to continue to expand to grades K-4th grade, we have a documentary crew visiting us tomorrow July 22nd, 2025, to take a pre-video for fundraising dollars for a full documentary with proceeds of the final product going to the future birth-4th grade immersion school. They would like to take a video of the morning protocol time at 9 am and stop in classrooms to take video of the language being spoken. This video will be used to bring awareness of Dakota language revitalization at C̣aƞṡayapi (Lower Sioux) for the future birth-4th grade school. We will have video of the children learning in their classrooms, in the indoor play area, and at the playground.
If you are okay with your child being in the video, you do not need to take any action. If you DO NOT want your child in the video, please download and print the PDF to put your child’s name, sign, date, and return to CWOO by Tuesday July 21st, 2025.
